Take me through the procedure, what is it like?

First we will discuss your goal and I will examine the area that you would like treated. Thereafter, I will discuss the amount of units I will use to create the desired look. Then we will numb the area/s, although Botox can be well tolerated without numbing cream. I will ask you to animate, so as to see the lines forming as you do. Then I will make markings on the face, and go ahead and inject directly onto the chosen facial muscle. The needle used for Botox is nowhere near what most people imagine. Facial muscles lie more superficially than the rest of the body, so we use tiny needles to reach the muscle.

Will I turn red and bruise after the injection?

You may have some redness at the location of the puncture but this usually disappears very quickly.

So after the injection, when will I see results?

In about 5-10 days, you will see results.

Will Botox make me age faster once I stop?

Absolutely not. When you stop getting Botox injections, your facial muscle simply goes back to its original wrinkle making routine as it did before and forming lines on the overlying skin.

What about the Hollywood stars, they look so fake, is that look a result of Botox?

Botox in the correct amount and in the correct hand, does not look unnatural. Hollywood stars often get very high doses of Botox, which can give the dreaded frozen face. Also consider that these stars almost always do multiple procedures on their faces, both surgical and non-surgical. Therefore their fake look is often attributed to other treatments as well.

What if I start Botox and I don’t like it?

Then you will simply not get your top up Botox treatment and your muscle will go back to its regular activity.

I am under 30 years old, I don’t have any wrinkles as yet, but I would like to prevent them from forming in future?

Yes, you can. I can customise a smaller dose for all the muscle groups, which also work out much cheaper. I call this, Baby Botox and is a wonderful treatment to do, much like wearing sunscreen to prevent premature ageing from the sun.

How much does Botox cost?

Each unit is R75. The amount of Botox used can vary from 8-24 units per  area.

How long does it last?

It can last between 3-4 months.

Can I bring my best friend to my first Botox appointment?

Of course, even better, you and your friend can have Botox on the same day.
